Acadian Oaks Pet Clinic has been providing "Special Care for Special Family Members" for over 30 years. We are a full-service veterinary medical and surgical hospital for dogs and cats. We believe in close personal attention and communication, and we regard the pet owner as an integral part of the health care team.
It's a good idea to keep a journal of notes about your pet, covering topics such as elimination habits and any physical changes or unusual occurrences. Keep track of small shifts in your pet's behavior, including appetite, urination, defecation, sleeping habits, and mood swings, along with diet and routine modifications. You are welcome to bring this notebook when you visit us. The notes can be helpful in discussions about your pet, and seemingly unrelated occurrences may help explain results of your pet's medical tests.
Our receptionist and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. So that others may be seen, please give 24 hours notice of appointment cancellation. We accept patients by appointment unless there is an emergency situation. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us (225-387-2462) or come to the hospital immediately. An office-hours emergency fee may be applicable.
Emergency & Urgent Care
If you feel that your pet needs emergency treatment, do not hesitate to call immediately. If possible, it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency. Some emergencies require specialized services at a referral hospital.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening, but you feel your pet needs to be seen before a routine appointment is available. Our staff will work to fit you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionist will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.
Types of Pets Seen
