Acadian Oaks Pet Clinic has been providing "Special Care for Special Family Members" in Mid City for over 30 years. We are a full-service veterinary medical and surgical hospital for dogs and cats. We believe in close personal attention and communication, and we regard the pet owner as an integral part of the health care team.
Pet owners want their dogs and cats to have long, joyful lives, and we will be happy to discuss the best ways to achieve that goal in your particular situation. We take pride in our friendly staff and our attractive, clean office.
Our doctors' hours are by appointment to maximize time spent in the exam room with each pet and client. Pets may also be dropped off to stay with us for the day.
Our Goal is to assist pet owners in giving their pets long, healthy, happy lives. To accomplish this, we will endeavor to provide the best possible client education, helping clients understand all aspects of pet health and preventive care.
Our mission is to help people by helping their pets. We love pets and their people!
Acadian Oaks Pet Clinic offers general veterinary care for dogs and cats. We have a special interest in senior patients (dogs and cats 7+ years of age). As veterinary medicine becomes more complex and procedures evolve, we stay up to date on the latest veterinary medical technologies.
We provide these services and more:
Annual Exams and Semi-annual Exams
Complete physical examinations help us diagnose underlying diseases that might not be showing obvious clinical signs. If a disease or condition is diagnosed early in its course, appropriate medications, procedures, and/or diets can be instituted, potentially enabling better management of the problem.
We have laboratory equipment and supplies on site for crucial diagnostics, such as blood chemistry panels, complete blood counts, urinalyses, stool tests, heartworm/FeLV/FIV tests, radiology, EKG, pulse oximetry, and more. We send fine needle biopsy specimens and tissue specimens to board certified veterinary pathologists for assessment.
We offer dental cleaning procedures and products to help keep your pet's teeth healthy. Problems in the mouth can lead to problems in other organs of the body such as the heart, liver, and kidneys.
We stock a wide range of medications and medical diets to help prevent and treat illnesses and chronic conditions such as arthritis, kidney disease, heart problems, and gastrointestinal disease.
We are a full-service clinic equipped to help your pet; we perform surgical procedures such as ovariohysterectomies (spays), neuters, tumor excisions, and other surgeries as needed.
Vaccinations help prevent common bacterial and viral diseases of dogs and cats, some of which are contagious to people. We will design a personalized vaccine program for your pet depending on specific risk factors such as age and lifestyle. Rabies vaccination is required by parish and state law.
South Louisiana is "parasite paradise" with its lush, subtropical climate. We will design a program that takes into consideration any special risk factors for your pet and family. Good parasite control protects pets and their people!
We offer Hill's Science Diets, Hill's Prescription Diets, Royal Canin, and Purina Veterinary Diets. These premium foods are the best available, consistently made from the finest ingredients. A high plane of nutrition has been shown to add years to pets' lives.
We were one of the first veterinary hospitals in Louisiana to provide microchipping services. Microchip implants have reunited many lost pets with their families and can also serve as proof of ownership.
